Chandler Owenby is a medical device entrepreneur and spine industry operator with more than five years of operating-room experience supporting orthopedic spine surgeons, neurosurgeons, and interventional spine and pain specialists across complex spine and sacroiliac procedures. Surgeons keep him on speed dial for one reason: when the case gets hard, Chandler is the steady voice across the drape.

A former four-year collegiate basketball player at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, he graduated with a degree in Media and Society and a minor in Entrepreneurship — a combination that shows up in his work every day, from how he tells a clinical story to how he builds a business from a blank sheet of paper.

After college, Chandler joined Spinal Simplicity and built a new sales territory from zero, growing it to a consistent 10–20 surgical cases per month. He was on the floor for the first commercial cases of the Liberty-SI Lateral Implant System — the FDA-cleared transfixing sacroiliac fusion procedure that earned 510(k) clearance in December 2023 — helping turn a newly cleared technology into routine clinical practice in some of the most demanding ORs in the Southeast.

After relocating to Charleston, South Carolina, Chandler founded Owenby Medical Group, a spine-focused distributorship dedicated to bringing the right technology to the right patient. He built it the way the next generation of medtech founders are going to have to build everything — surgeon by surgeon, hospital by hospital, case by case — until the data and the outcomes speak for themselves.

As a co-founder of Amplio Spine, Chandler now helps lead the commercial launch of KeyLiftTM, the only FDA-cleared expandable interlaminar stabilization platform covering both sacral and lumbar anatomy. He represents a new generation of medical device entrepreneurs — clinically fluent, operator-grade, willing to carry a tray into the OR at 6 a.m. and a pitch deck into a board meeting that afternoon. The thesis is simple: spine specialists deserve devices designed by people who have actually stood next to the table, and patients deserve a faster path from FDA clearance to standard of care.

Chandler is based in Charleston, South Carolina, and works with hospital systems, ambulatory surgery centers, and surgeon partners across Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and the broader Southeast.
